Surrey’s Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara’s senior member warned by police about threat to his life

THE CBC reported on Wednesday that a senior member of Surrey’s Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, Gurmeet Singh Toor, was warned by Surrey RCMP and the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET) on August 24 that his life could be in peril.

In a “duty to warn” document, the Sikh activist was warned that “police have determined by way of one or more investigative avenues that your life may be in peril,” the CBC reported.

“At this time we are unable to provide you with specific details of the threat.”

Toor was a close associate of Hardeep Singh Nijjar who was shot dead on June 18 in the parking lot of Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara where he served as president.

CBC reported that Toor told them that RCMP asked him about his activities; however, police refused to provide any more information about the threats.

He told CBC that he has been worried for his safety, and is extremely vigilant.
