JUST after midnight on Tuesday, January 30, Surrey RCMP received a report from Surrey Fire Department of a structure fire in a strip mall near the intersection of 148 Street and 108 Avenue in the Guildford area.

When police arrived on scene, several businesses in the strip mall were engulfed and being contained by fire crews on scene. All persons who were patronising the businesses had been successfully evacuated and there were no apparent injuries.

Police said the fire appears to be suspicious in nature; however, investigating officers are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

Officers collected statements from witnesses and conducted a neighborhood canvass.
