Two in custody after shooting in Surrey’s Newton area

SURREY RCMP are currently on scene in the Newton area of Surrey for a report of shots being fired.

At approximately 5:41 p.m. on Friday, August 20, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the 13700-block of 70 Avenue. A male was located suffering from life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Two individuals are currently in custody.

Officers will be conducting neighbourhood canvassing and speaking with witnesses to obtain further information.

The investigation is still in its early stages but initial indications are that this is a targeted incident and involves parties known to each other.  This is not related to the ongoing Lower Mainland Gang Conflict.
