Two Indo-Canadian men are among four people charged after Toronto police found millions of dollars worth of cocaine in two of their vehicles earlier this week.
Vancouver’s Philipos Kollaros, 33, has been charged with trafficking, possession for the purposes of trafficking, along with Ritesh Thakur, 40, of Mississauga, Gursharan Singh, 29, of Mississauga, and 36-year-old Demitri Alexiou, of Quebec.
Officers from Toronto Police Organized Crime Enforcement and Drug Squad Major Project Section stopped two vehicles near Bay Street and Lakeshore Boulevard on Monday and found 33 kilograms of cocaine during a subsequent search.
Police then prepared search warrants that were executed at other Toronto locations and led to the seizure of an additional 29 kilograms of cocaine, three kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and a small quantity of liquid GHB, police said in a news release Friday.
Police estimated the street value of the drugs as $6.5-million.
All four accused appeared in court Thursday.
