Union declares impasse in negotiations with BC Rapid Transit Company

MICHEL Ladrak, President of BC Rapid Transit Company, announced on Wednesday afternoon that following six months of negotiation and an offer being presented to CUPE 7000 by BCRTC, the union has declared an impasse in negotiations. They have advised that they will be holding a meeting with their members to discuss their next steps.

He added: “We remain committed to the bargaining process and have suggested the parties take part in mediation to help resolve the current issues. The offer we have put forward aligns with public sector settlements in British Columbia today. We are open to further discussing what has been offered and urge the union to continue negotiating with us.”

MEANWHILE, due to union job action, TransLink is expecting the cancellation of six SeaBus sailings on Thursday:

  • The 4:10 pm, 7:32 pm, and 8:47 pm sailings from Lonsdale Quay will be cancelled
  • The 4:25 pm, 7:46 pm, and 9:01 pm sailings from Waterfront will be cancelled.
