UPDATE: Highway 99 southbound at Highway 91 remains closed in Surrey

FRIDAY UPDATE: Highway 99 northbound is now open.

 

 

SURREY Police Service announced at 9:20 p.m. on Thursday that the multi-vehicle motor vehicle collision earlier in the evening continues to result in the closure of Highway 99 southbound at the Highway 91 interchange.

Highway 99 southbound will remain closed for several more hours into the night as police investigate this multi-vehicle collision that spans a significant stretch of the highway.

Five individuals were taken to hospital for various injuries, including at least one with potentially critical injuries who was taken by Air Ambulance.

Surrey Police Service thanked responding RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit officers, BC Emergency Health Services paramedics, Surrey Fire Service firefighters, Delta Police Department officers, and Mainroad staff for their significant response and assistance.

Anyone with information, including dash cam footage if they were travelling on Highway 99 near the Highway 91 interchange at approximately 5:30 p.m., is asked to contact Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and quote file number SP24-4128.
