VANCOUVER Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a car and killed in the Downtown Eastside on Thursday.

The fatal collision occurred at Columbia Street and East Hastings Street around 10:50 a.m. after two vehicles collided in the intersection, resulting in one car jumping the curb and striking a pedestrian on the sidewalk.

Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, the pedestrian died at the collision scene.

Both drivers remained on scene.

VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit is investigating. Witnesses and drivers with dash-cam video are asked to call 604-717-3012.
