Vancouver Police recover sculpture stolen from B.C. Children’s Hospital

VANCOUVER Police have recovered a sculpture stolen from B.C. Children’s Hospital last week.

The sculpture, worth more than $45,000, was taken from outside the hospital in the early hours of April 3.

On Thursday afternoon, officers tracked down the artwork in East Vancouver.

No arrests have been made, and VPD’s Property Crime Unit continues to collect evidence.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time, police said.

Malcolm Berry, President and CEO of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, said in a statement: “This is fantastic news! BC Children’s Hospital Foundation is incredibly grateful for the discovery of the donated sculpture that was recently taken from one of the hospital’s healing gardens. Artwork like this piece, thoughtfully created by world-renowned artist Marie Khouri, is an important aspect of the healing environment at the hospital. We are truly thankful for the support of the Vancouver Police Department in recovering this important piece of work.”
