VANCOUVER Police on Thursday appealed for the driver of a dark-coloured 2016 Mazda CX-5, after evidence indicates that was the vehicle that hit a pedestrian on Tuesday.
“The suspect vehicle will have damage to the front passenger side,” said Constable Tania Visintin. “Investigators are also asking the driver of a black pick-up truck, who may have witnessed the collision, to contact police.”
On October 12, just before 6:30 a.m., a man was crossing East 41 Avenue at Fraser Street when he was struck by a vehicle travelling west. The suspect fled without stopping and the victim was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries.
“We are asking the driver of the Mazda CX-5 to do the right thing and come forward,” said Visintin. “Our Collision Investigation Unit continues to gather evidence and are confident they will find the driver responsible.”
The 30-year-old victim remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage from the area are asked to call VPD Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
