Vancouver Police seek witnesses, dash-cam to Tuesday’s serious collision

VANCOUVER Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision that occurred Tuesday night in East Vancouver.

A 40-year-old pedestrian was struck at 9:30 p.m. while crossing East 1st Avenue at Woodland Drive, suffering life-threatening injuries. She remains at hospital in critical condition.

Officers from VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit believe the collision occurred when the victim, a woman who lives nearby, was attempting to cross East 1st Avenue, from the south side. As she stepped off the curb she was struck by a blue Mercedes C300 that was passing through the intersection.

The driver remained at the collision scene, and neither speed nor alcohol are considered factors.

Investigators are working to determine all of the circumstances that led up to the collision. Eyewitnesses, or anyone with dash-cam video, is asked to call the Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
