Vancouver Police to host anti-extortion community forum

THE Vancouver Police Department is hosting a community forum on Wednesday where officers will discuss the extortions impacting communities in Metro Vancouver.

Investigators from VPD’s Operations and Investigation Division will be joined by senior police leaders for a discussion that focuses on public safety and crime prevention. Attendees will learn how extortionists operate, how people can protect themselves, and the importance of timely reporting.

The forum will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26 at South Hall Banquet and Wedding Palace at 8273 Ross Street.

The presenters will include Phil Heard, Superintendent, Operations Command; Dale Weidman, Superintendent, Investigative Services; Harm Rai, Acting Inspector, Organized Crime Section; and Gurdeep Beesla, Sergeant, Operations Division.
