VANCOUVER Police are continuing their investigation into an early morning collision on Cambie Street that claimed the life of a young man.
Just after 3 a.m. Sunday morning, a collision occurred between a northbound blue SUV and a pedestrian on Cambie Street, mid-block between West 19th and 20th Avenue. The pedestrian, a 25-year-old Vancouver man, was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries.
The driver of the SUV is a 39-year-old woman from Richmond. She was not physically injured and is cooperating with police. Driver impairment does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
This is Vancouver’s fourth fatal pedestrian collision in 2018.
Officers from VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have been driving in the area around 3 a.m. and has dash-cam footage. Anyone with information is asked to call 604-717-3012.
