Whitecaps FC announce WFC2 schedule for inaugural season in USL PRO

VANCOUVER Whitecaps FC announced on Monday the complete 2015 schedule for Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) in their inaugural season in USL PRO. Season ticket deposit conversions will begin on Wednesday as season tickets officially go on sale.

The Blue and White will play their home opener on Sunday, April 19 against Canadian rivals Toronto FC II, their lone match of the season against an Eastern Conference opponent. Including their home opener, WFC2 will play five of six matches at home from April 19 until the end of May.

In total, WFC2 will play 28 matches from March through September, including 14 home matches on David Sidoo Field at UBC Thunderbird Stadium. Among the club’s home matches, 10 will be played on Sundays, two on Fridays, and one each on Wednesday and Saturday. The ‘Caps will play 13 matches against fellow MLS clubs, as well as an additional eight matches against clubs with MLS affiliates.

Head coach Alan Koch and his squad will kick off their inaugural season with four matches on the road, marking their debut on Sunday, March 29 against Seattle Sounders FC 2 at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Washington. This will be the first of eight matches for WFC2 against Cascadia opponents, four each against Sounders FC 2 and Portland Timbers 2, with two against each team at home. Fans will have the opportunity for a doubleheader road trip in Portland when WFC2 take on Timbers 2 on Sunday, July 19 at the University of Portland’s Merlo Field, one day after the ‘Caps first team take on the Timbers in MLS action on Saturday, July 18 at Providence Park.

Whitecaps FC 2 will wrap-up the regular season with three matches at Thunderbird Stadium in the month of September. Their regular season finale will be played on Sunday, September 20 against Austin Aztex.

WFC2 Open Tryout presented by adidas

The club will host its inaugural WFC2 Open Tryout, presented by adidas, on Saturday, February 21 and Sunday, February 22 on David Sidoo Field at UBC Thunderbird Stadium. At least one participant from the open tryout is guaranteed to be invited to take part in WFC2 preseason training camp and be given an opportunity to earn a spot on the inaugural WFC2 roster.
