Supremely efficient, sleek and oozing the distinct BMW cache, the current BMW’s 4 Series is available in very desirable looking coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe models. For the 2018 model year, the biggest change is the availability of a new engine and additional equipment such as new technology including wireless connectivity, and an on-board Wi-Fi hotspot. The latest version of the iDrive infotainment system is also standard on the 4 Series range, now more refined and easier to use. The BMW 4 Series range start with 440i Coupe at $56,350, with the xDrive Coupe and xDrive Gran Coupe model starting at $57,050. The 440i xDrive Convertible ranges from $70,550. The 440i uses BMW’s new turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six, with 320 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque teamed with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Either rear wheel or xDrive All-Wheel Drive as on our tester is available.
BMW’s TwinPower Turbo inline-6 is an absolute jewel of an engine, with BMW’s legendary smoothness. Combine it with a slick-shifting eight-speed, beautifully calibrated 8-speed autobox and it is such a slick, refined powertrain.
Safety is also well taken care of with, the Driver Assistance package ($1,500) equipped with features such as BMW Driving Assistant Plus, forward collision warning, lane departure warning Active Blind Spot Detection, rear collision prevention, Active cruise control with stop and go, steering and lane control with traffic jam assist, active lane keeping with slide collision avoidance ,and evasion assist The Driver Assistance Package ($1,500) added: Active Blind Spot Detection, Driving Assistant and Speed Limit Information feature. Also added on our tester was the Interior comfort package $2,500) comprising of: ventilated comfort seats, BMW individual reading lights, ambient air package, massage front seats. There was also the Smartphone Connectivity Package, Apple CarPlay prep, wireless, Bluetooth USB and WiFi Hotspot capability Standalone options included BMW Adaptive headlights and Active Cruise with Stop and Go feature. Also ticked, was the M Performance 11 Package ($2,900) with M Performance Exhaust and M Power kit that boosts horsepower up to 335 horsepower and also adds M Sport brakes, adaptive M suspension and 19-inch rims and tires. The price of these rather expensive options raises the price to heady $73,190 for our particular tester.
