19-year-old male shot in Richmond

Shooting was targeted, suspects have been identified

ON Tuesday, December 29, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Richmond frontline officers responded to a report from a man of being shot in the 8000-block of Jones Road. Police arrived in the area and found the 19-year-old victim bleeding from what appeared to be a gunshot injury.

Richmond RCMP Watch General Investigative Services (Watch GIS) initially attended to assist with the investigation, and Lower Mainland District Integrated Forensic Identification Services (LMD IFIS) also attended to process the scene found nearby. The lone victim was transported to a local area hospital and has since been released. He is expected to recover from his injuries.

“Through the course of the investigation, we have learned that the shooting was targeted, and suspects have been identified,” said Constable Kenneth Lau. “Therefore, there is no ongoing risk to the public.”

The Richmond RCMP Serious Crimes Unit have since taken conduct of the file.
