ONE man was killed near a Marpole nightclub on Monday morning in Vancouver’s fifth homicide of the year.

Vancouver Police officers responded to 9-1-1 calls for a fight that broke out on the street between a large group near Southwest Marine Drive and Hudson Street at 3:30 a.m. Officers found a 19-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by VPD, BC Ambulance Service and Vancouver Fire Rescue Services, the victim succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and remains in custody. The investigation is ongoing.

“This incident happened close to a nearby nightclub at closing time,” said Constable Tania Visintin on Monday. “We know there were a lot of people who saw what happened this morning and we need them to call police.”
