SURREY RCMP are continuing their investigation into a shooting that occurred on Wednesday in the Whalley area that left one man with serious injuries.
At approximately 5 p.m. on November 2, police were called to a report of shots fired in the 13500-block of 89 Avenue. Police located a 25-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was provided first aid and transported to hospital where he is in stable condition.
Earlier, police said initial indications were that this was an isolated incident and involved parties known to each other.
According to surveillance video obtained by CTV News from a neighbouring house, the South Asian victim arrives home at around 4:52 p.m. After parking his car, he walks to a basement suite with bags in his hands. About 10 seconds later, a man dressed in black and wearing a hoodie is seen running after him. Seconds later, he is seen running away with a gun in his hand.
Police were called early Thursday morning to a report of a vehicle on fire in the 13300-block of 88A Avenue. Early indications are that this is a stolen vehicle that fled the area after the shooting. Further analysis will be done to confirm any linkages to the shooting.
Police are still working to determine a possible motive. In order to advance the investigation, investigators are seeking anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage near the 13500-block of 89 Avenue between 4 and 5 p.m. You are requested to contact the Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit with more information.
