65-year-old suspect arrested in connection with groping in Newton

SURREY RCMP said on Friday that a suspect has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault that occurred on Thursday at a park in Newton.

The arrest is related to an incident that occurred on February 4 shortly before 1 p.m. during which, a man in Pioneer Park groped a youth. On Friday afternoon, officers from the Surrey RCMP Youth Unit arrested a 65-year-old man for sexual assault.

The man will be released from custody with several conditions, including not attending Surrey schools and parks. Charges have not yet been laid as the investigation is ongoing, police said.
