78-year-old female pedestrian killed in Vancouver collision

VANCOUVER Police are investigating the city’s seventh pedestrian fatality of the year after a 78-year-old woman died on Tuesday night.

The woman was crossing Beach Avenue on Broughton Street just before 8 p.m. when she was struck by a white Nissan SUV in the middle of the street. She was taken to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Investigators believe driver impairment was a factor is this collision.

A 30-year-old man was arrested. He has since been released on a future court date.
