Possibility of an illegal drug extraction lab

LANGLEY RCMP said on Monday that a dead person had been located inside a residence in the 7300-block of 196 Street after an explosion and fire on Friday, February 28, 2025 at approximately 10:40 a.m.

“Over the past few days investigators have remained on-site to meticulously examine the scene. I can confirm that a deceased person has been located inside the residence,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom of Langley RCMP. “We are working with the BC Coroners Service to identify the deceased individual.”

Police said that the preliminary examination of the scene has investigators focused on the cause of the explosion and fire which may be consistent with what is found at an illegal drug extraction lab. However, it may take time to reach a definitive conclusion, as a thorough investigation and expert analysis are required.

Anyone with information about this incident who has not yet spoken with authorities is asked to contact the Langley RCMP and quote file 2025-6044.
