THE New Westminster Police Department has made an arrest in connection to a series of fires that occurred in uptown New Westminster on June 13.
At approximately 5 p.m., staff from a business located in the 600-block of Sixth Street called 9-1-1 after finding a suspicious fire inside the store. Police attended the scene along with New Westminster Fire and Rescue Service and soon learned that a second suspicious fire had been found at another business in the same block. Police began interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence.
Approximately four hours later, police attended the scene of a third fire in the 600-block of Seventh Avenue. Someone matching the suspect description was arrested near the scene without incident.
“We’d like to thank the store staff for calling 9-1-1 so quickly,” said Media Relations Officer Sgt. Andrew Leaver, “This allows us to start work right away and in this case we were able to begin working with fire investigators and obtain a suspect description.”
Police continue to investigate and work in partnership with New Westminster Fire and Rescue Services fire investigators. Anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police is asked to call 604-525-5411 and reference police file 2025-10022.
