Surrey residence targeted in extortion-related shooting

SURREY Police Service (SPS) is investigating an incident where shots were fired at a residence near King George Boulevard and 88 Avenue after midnight.

On Wednesday, April 22 at approximately 12:40 a.m., SPS frontline officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 13400-block of 87A Avenue. Police quickly confirmed that none of the occupants of the home were injured. The residence was damaged, and bullet casings were observed outside.

Investigators from SPS’s Extortion Response Team (ExRT) have taken the lead on the investigation and Integrated Forensic Identification Services officers will be assisting with processing the scene today.

Although this incident is in the early stages of investigation, the motivation for the shooting is believed to be extortion.
