Prabhjit Brar charged in February’s fatal pedestrian-involved crash in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD Police announced on Friday that 29-year-old Prabhjit Brar was formally charged on May 8 with impaired operation causing death, driving over 80 causing death, and dangerous operation causing death in connection to the February 9 fatal pedestrian-involved collision in the 30000-block of Harris Road.

On February 9 at 7:54 a.m., Abbotsford Police frontline officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.  Emergency service workers found a white Dodge pickup truck with significant front-end damage. The truck had struck a pedestrian and sheared off a power pole. Despite immediate efforts by civilians and first responders, the pedestrian sadly succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and was arrested for impaired driving by members of the Traffic Enforcement Unit.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be released at this time, police said.
