David Richard Morin is charged with manslaughter in relation to the stabbing death of Michael Smadu in East Vancouver on September 3, 2025.
Officers were called to a home near East 6th Avenue and Fraser Street just before 1 a.m. on September 3 for a man who had been stabbed. Despite attempts by first responders to save his life, the 54-year-old victim died before he could be taken to hospital.
Morin, 32, is currently in custody and made his first court appearance on the manslaughter charge on June 12. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 3.
