VANCOUVER Police on Thursday released a video of suspects involved in the violent robbery of a 75-year-old man near East Hastings Street and Jackson Avenue on Tuesday.

“This was a very serious incident where a senior who lives in the area was going for a walk in the neighbourhood and was attacked and robbed,” says Constable Megan Lui. “The suspects are still out there. Our hope is that the video will help us track them down.”

“We are asking anyone who witnessed the robbery or has information that could assist investigators to come forward. We want to identify those responsible and hold them accountable.”

The incident occurred around 9:15 a.m., when the victim was assaulted and robbed by a group of suspects. One suspect repeatedly pushed the victim to the ground before punching him multiple times in the face and stealing his personal belongings.

The victim followed the suspects in an attempt to recover his property. During the confrontation, he was slammed into a wall twice before the suspects fled the area.

Several witnesses and bystanders called police.

The victim was transported to hospital with a head injury, bruises and abrasions. He has since been released from the hospital.
