ON Tuesday, August 4 at approximately 10:49 p.m., Langley RCMP responded to a serious collision involving a sport utility vehicle and a commercial truck at the intersection of 256 Street and 16 Avenue in Langley.
Emergency crews, including personnel from the Township of Langley Fire Department, British Columbia Ambulance Service, and Langley RCMP, attended the scene and provided assistance.
“This was a tragic collision that resulted in the loss of two lives,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom of Langley RCMP. “One person was declared deceased at the scene, and a second person later died in hospital. Investigators continue to examine the factors that contributed to this collision, we are asking any witnesses or anyone with dash camera footage to come forward.”
The Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) was deployed to assist with the investigation.
The collision resulted in overnight road closures and significant traffic disruptions in the area while investigators examined the scene. Those closures have since been lifted, and all affected roadways have reopened to traffic.
