ON Tuesday, August 18 at approximately 10 p.m., Maple Ridge RCMP frontline officers responded to reports of shots being fired in the 11400-block of 236 Street in Maple Ridge. 

Officers on scene located a 56-year-old male victim inside a vehicle outside a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition. 

Maple Ridge RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation, and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) is currently processing the scene. The investigation is still in its very early stages. Officers are continuing to gather evidence and determine exact circumstances, including taking statements and canvassing the area for video surveillance and potential witnesses. 

No further information will be released at this time, police said.
