SFS vs SPS “Surrey Showdown” charity hockey game

SURREY Fire Services (SFS) and Surrey Police Service (SPS) are renewing a professional rivalry almost as old as time itself, as they come together to play in the inaugural “Surrey Showdown” charity hockey game.

On Saturday, October 10, at 7 p.m., at the South Surrey Arena, SFS firefighters and SPS police officers will be donning gear of a different kind as they hit the ice to play against each other.

During the second intermission, the excitement continues as pipe bands from the SFS and SPS take to the ice for a special and unique “Battle of the Bands.”

This is a family-friendly event that will help support Surrey youth initiatives including Special Olympics BC-Surrey Youth Programs, Westcoast Kids Cancer Foundation – Surrey City Camp, and HEROES Hockey – Surrey Program. Tickets are only $10 per adult, $5 for youth aged 6-17, and kids under 5 are free. Tickets are available for purchase at: Surrey Showdown.

This is more than just a hockey game, it’s an opportunity to meet your local heroes, cheer on your favourite team, and be a part of the beginning of what is sure to be a long-lasting heated rivalry, say SFS and SPS.
