THE City of Abbotsford announced on Tuesday that as of Wednesday, December 8 at 8 a.m., the disinfectant in the Sumas Prairie drinking water system will temporarily switch from chloramine to chlorine. This is an important step in restoring the Sumas Prairie water system following the flooding event and is expected to be in place for several weeks. During this time, you should not notice any significant changes other than a slight increase in chlorine odour.
This water system is still under a ‘Do Not Use (Flush Only)’ advisory until further notice. All other water in the City remains safe to use.
