THE City of Delta Parks, Recreation and Culture department on Friday announced the re-opening of the Aquatic Centre at Ladner Leisure Centre on Monday, October 9.
The Aquatic Centre was closed on March 27 for mandatory repairs to the natatorium (i.e. Aquatic Centre roof), preventing access to the pools. To accommodate swimmers in Delta, public swim at the Ladner Outdoor Pool opened earlier and closed later in the season. As a result, even more swimmers and families were able to enjoy one of the most important aspects of summer in Delta.
“The reopening of Ladner Leisure Centre is welcomed by our community,” said Delta Mayor George V. Harvie. “I want to express my gratitude to our residents for their patience during the closure and to our dedicated workers who made these necessary safety upgrades possible. As we dive back into the waters of the Aquatic Centre, may this facility continue to be a hub of activity, laughter, and learning for generations to come.”
With the re-opening of the Aquatic Centre, public swim, length swim, aquafit, and swimming lessons will also return as early as Monday, October 9. The sauna will also be available for public use.
While work inside of the Aquatic Centre is complete, crews will continue construction on the outside of the roof during hours of operation.
