Arman Dhillon, 27, of Alberta shot and killed in Ontario’s Oakville

THE homicide victim in an August 19 shooting in Oakville, Ontario, has been identified as Arman Dhillon, 27, of Alberta. Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) said his name was released with the family’s permission.

Dhillon was acquitted in 2018 of a murder charge and other offences in connection to a 2016 shooting outside an Edmonton nightclub in which Amin Mohammed Abdullahi was killed and his brother, Bilal Abdullahi, was wounded. Dhillon, who was 21 years old at the time, spent 17 months in jail before being released on bail.

Halton Regional Police Service said that on August 19 they received multiple 911 calls just before 1 a.m. for reports of gunfire in the area of Belt Lane and Littlefield Crescent. Officers located a male and a female with obvious signs of gunshot wounds.

The male was pronounced dead on scene and the female was transported to hospital with serious wounds.

Police said that it appeared that the shooting occurred outside a residence on Belt Lane. The suspects then appeared to have chased the male victim to the area where he was fatally shot.

The suspect vehicle was identified as a white Acura MDX that was set on fire on Addingham Crescent in east Oakville.

Investigators are appealing to witnesses and property owners with surveillance video or dash cam footage from 12 to 2 a.m. on August 19 in the area of the QEW and Bronte Road, as well as the neighbourhood area of the QEW and Ford Drive, Winston Churchill Boulevard, Kingsway Drive and Sheridan Garden Drive.
