ONTARIO: 8 South Asians arrested as Peel and Halton Police recover over $400,000 in stolen mail

ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police, in collaboration with Halton Regional Police, have recovered more than 450 pieces of stolen mail, totalling a combined worth of more than $400,000.

In April 2025, Peel and Halton Police launched a joint investigation with Canada Post involving a series of mail thefts occurring throughout the Region of Peel. The investigation uncovered a group of individuals working together to target residential mailboxes, resulting in widespread theft and disruption to community members.

As part of the coordinated enforcement efforts, search warrants were executed on September 8 and 9, at multiple residences in Mississauga, specifically in the areas of Rhinebank Street and Brandon Gate Drive, as well as Dwiggin Avenue and Kittridge Drive.

As a result, hundreds of pieces of stolen mail were recovered, including credit cards, gift cards, various forms of government identification, and more than 250 cheques.

The investigation led to the arrest of the following eight men who now face 344 charges in relation to various property crimes. Charged are:

  • Sumanpreet Singh, 28, of Mississauga
  • Gurdeep Chattha, 29, of Mississauga
  • Jashandeep Jattana, 23, of Mississauga
  • Harman Singh, 28, of Brampton

  • Manroop Singh, 23, of Brampton
  • Rajbir Singh, 26, of no fixed address, and

Peel Regional Police are actively engaged with the Peel Crown Attorney’s Office and the Canada Border Services Agency which will determine whether removal of accused foreign nationals from Canada may be pursued as part of the judicial process.
