Arshdeep Oathi, 25, of Brampton arrested in fatal collision involving 18-month-old boy

ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police announced on Wednesday they have arrested Arshdeep Oathi, a 25-year-old man from Brampton, in relation to the fatal collision that claimed the life of an 18-month-old boy.

On Wednesday, August 12, just before 5:30 p.m., a delivery driver was operating a van in the parking lot of 2365 Confederation Parkway in the City of Mississauga. At this time, the victim, an 18-month-old boy, was with his mother in the same parking lot. As the delivery driver was exiting the lot, the victim was struck by the vehicle.

The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by the delivery driver and the victim’s mother to a local hospital. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later.

On Monday, September 14, investigators arrested Oathi in relation to the incident. He was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and released on an undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Brampton on November 16.
