THE B.C. Liberals on Friday said that NDP Leader John Horgan and the NDP have broken their promise when it comes to housing. After committing to build 114,000 affordable homes, the NDP have only opened 2,963 units.
According to the B.C. Liberals:
* The NDP have only completed 2,963 units of the 114,000 they promised
* At the NDP’s current rate, it will take them 100 years to keep their promise
* Only 5% of new NDP units are affordable rental housing
* Due to the lack of new affordable units, Metro Vancouver renters are paying an extra $2,064 per year in rent under the NDP
* More than 70% of those are modular or supportive housing
* Of the 16,000 units in in various stages of development more than 2,000 are BC Liberal investments started prior to 2017
* There is still no sign of the NDP’s 2017 election promise for a $400 renter’s rebate.
