THE BC NDP on Tuesday announced a fundraising total exceeding $2.2 million in the second quarter of 2024: the strongest non-election quarter the party has ever seen.
This quarter’s results include nearly $670,000 raised in a single day: June 27. This was its single best fundraising day since the implementation of campaign finance reform in 2018. These results were driven by a challenge to the party’s grassroots and Electoral District Associations. That challenge was accepted, and surpassed.
The party said that this outstanding single-day total illustrates the incredible energy of the BC NDP’s grassroots, and the enthusiasm behind the party’s bid for a second consecutive majority government.
“While our BC NDP team is taking action to make things easier, the BC Conservatives and BCUP are competing over who can promise the deepest cuts to please their multi-millionaire friends,” said BC NDP Provincial Director Heather Stoutenburg. “While they’re squabbling over who is in second, we’re focused on making life better for people. It’s a message that resonates with British Columbians, and you can see it in these numbers. [Premier] David Eby’s BC NDP is the strongest grassroots movement this province has ever seen, and our movement is ready to bring our message of progress to every doorstep in British Columbia.”
This quarter’s results bring the party’s fundraising total to over $3.3 million for the first half of 2024. This is the strongest first half the party has seen since it came to power in 2017, with its second-strongest first half (January-June 2023) coming in at nearly $1.8 million.
“Our party is dedicated to taking on the tough challenges that matter to British Columbians. We’re building homes people can afford, investing in healthcare, and creating good jobs in a clean economy — so people can build a good life in this province we all call home,” said Stoutenburg. “While the whole country battles the impacts of global inflation, our nation-leading reforms have us turning the corner. If the future feels uncertain, know that David Eby and our BC NDP team are on your side, taking action to make things easier for you and your family.”
