Boat operator dies after collision with metal river piling in Langley

ON Saturday, March 16 at approximately 5 p.m., Langley RCMP received a report of a boat operator in distress on the Fraser River near the 21400-block of Allard Crescent.

Police along with first responders from the Township of Langley Fire Department and British Columbia Ambulance Service attended the area and located a 65-year-old man in distress. Life saving attempts were administered; however, the man succumbed to his injuries.

“Initial investigation indicates that the boat was involved in a collision with a metal river piling and it is believed that the boat operator was the lone occupant at the time of the incident,” said Cpl. Zynal Sharoom of Langley RCMP on Sunday.

Langley RCMP have engaged the West Coast Marine Services to assist with the accident investigation pertaining to this incident.
