Bomb threat at Vancouver International Airport

ON Thursday, July 3 at approximately 2 a.m., Richmond RCMP received a report of a threat at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) Nav Canada Air Traffic Control Tower. The tower was subsequently evacuated.

With the assistance of the Integrated Police Dog Services (IPDS), a thorough search was conducted and no threats were located.

“The RCMP and YVR take threats of this nature very seriously,” said Cpl. Melissa Lui, Media Relations Officer of Richmond RCMP. “After the initial investigation, investigators determined this to be a false report, and that there is no credible threat to public safety.”

“We would like to thank IPDS and YVR staff for their actions and for ensuring the safety of the public,” said Lui.

Richmond RCMP is continuing the investigation and would like to request anyone with information regarding this incident to contact them at 604-278-1212, and quote file number 2025-21021, or e-mail them at Richmond_Tips@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

YVR said in a post on social media: “We are aware of a security concern that occurred earlier this morning involving @navcanada operations at YVR as well as several other Canadian airports. Safety and security remains our top priority and a thorough threat assessment was conducted. At this time, flights at YVR are operating normally, however as always, we recommend passengers check yvr.ca or with their airline to get the latest flight information.”
