Burnaby RCMP seeking witnesses to collision in which two police officers were injured (update)

TWO police officers, one an RCMP member and the other an integrated member from the Abbotsford Police Department, are currently being treated in hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries following a collision involvingĀ a suspect vehicle and a police vehicle, which occurred just before noon on Monday in the 5000-block of North Fraser Way and North Fraser Crescent.

The police vehicle was parked at the side of the road when it was struck. The two police officers, who were from the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service, were standing outside the vehicle.Ā Burnaby RCMP Traffic Services is investigating the collision.

Abbotsford Police on Tuesday announced that their officer who was struck had beenĀ released from hospital.Ā  He is Cpl. Aaron Courtney, a 15-year officer and 10-year member of the Lower Mainland District Integrated Police Dog Services Unit. He is now at home recovering with his family and friends.
