EDMONTON, Alberta: The Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce (CHCC) launched its Alberta Chapter during the Invest Canada–India Event 2025, to strengthen trade, investment, and community partnerships between Canada and India.
The evening brought together business leaders, government officials, and community members for a celebration of economic opportunity and cultural connection. The program was hosted by MCs Pranshu Patel and Raveena Bodawala and opened with a Ganesh Bhajan performance by Aditi Patil, 13, from Calgary.
A special video message by CHCC President Kushagr Dutt Sharma highlighted the key strengths of the organization, the importance of a strong presence in Alberta, and the endless opportunities for investment and growth between Canada and India.
The event also featured a recognition plaque of the Alberta event core committee members – Rakesh Patel, Gopal Sani, Minesh Patel, and Daleep Shekhawat – for their tireless work in bringing the Alberta Chapter to life.
The highlight of the evening was the official launch of the Alberta Chapter. The first President of Alberta CHCC Chapter, Rakesh Patel, Central Board directors Ananth Tharmalingam, Rashmikant Patel and Gopal Sani, and Advisory Board members Dhaval Shah and Daleep Shekhawat were announced. The Alberta Chapter Certificate was formally presented by Nareshkumar Chavda, Chair of the Board of Trustees, along with Maharshi Jani, VP–Operations.
Chavda also shared the history of CHCC, its importance to the business community, and the organization’s future vision for growth and expansion across Canada and internationally.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Consul Amitabh Ranjan from Vancouver’s Indian Consulate General, MLA Shane Getson, MLA Peter Singh (who read Premier Danielle Smith’s message), MLA Jackie Lovely, MP Garnett Genuis, and Minister of Indigenous Relations Rajan Sawhney. Each leader expressed their genuine appreciation for the Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce (CHCC) and underscored how timely and necessary its presence is in Alberta. They highlighted the Chamber’s role as a bridge for fostering stronger Canada–India collaboration in trade, economic corridors, natural resources, and cultural exchange. Getson spoke on the importance of investment, his vision for visiting India, and how ties between India and Alberta can grow to even greater levels. The dignitaries noted that with the CHCC in Alberta, new doors for investment and growth between the two countries can truly open, making it possible to unlock greater opportunities for both economies.
The second half of the program featured keynote speeches and panel discussions from:
● Radhe Gupta, Founder of Rohit Group, on innovation and community building.
● Leela Aheer, Chief Growth Officer of The BioSport, on medical tourism and healthcare investment.
● James Zelazo, Chartered Accountant and CPA, on sustainable development and investment frameworks.
● Dr. Shailesh Thaker, global management thinker (via video), on leadership and organizational growth.
● Nisha Odedara, Founder and Managing Director of Maple Air Charter, on aviation investment opportunities.
● Manpreet, for resort-style investment opportunities in India.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by CHCC VP Maharshi Jani, followed by dinner and networking among political leaders, industry pioneers, and community members.
