GUJARAT Public Affairs Council of Canada (GPAC) last Saturday (May 20) celebrated the inception of GPAC and the birth anniversary of Gujarat state at Sringeri Vidya Bharti Foundation in Etobicoke, Ontario.
The event was declared open by GPAC Co-Chair Pranav Patel. The Deep Pragatya ceremony was performed by Indian Consul Usha Venkatesan, Chief Guest Dr. Chandrakant Shah and GPAC directors Naresh Chavda, Pranav Patel, Mayur Dave, Naresh Patel and Dhaval Vediya. Preya Vyas performed Lord Ganesha Vandana in Bharat Natyam dance style. Vijay Pandya introduced Dipika Damerla, Ontario’s Minister of Senior Affairs.
Gujarat Gaurav Award, which is conferred to a Canadian of Gujarati origin who has distinctly contributed to both the Gujarati community and Canadian society at large, was conferred on Dr. Chandrakant Shah, Order of Ontario recipient and a renowned doctor, philanthropist and professor who has served the Gujarati community, Canadian aboriginals and Canadian community at large.
