A new exhibit at the Sikh Heritage Museum in Abbotsford, Chandra Bodalia’s Legacy: The History and Heritage of Gurdwaras in BC, curated by the South Asian Studies Institute opened on Sunday.

“Affectionally nicknamed, the ‘Smile Catcher’, Chandra Bodalia was a prominent member of the South Asian community in B.C.’s lower mainland area, and was a visual recordkeeper of many of the community’s events,” the SASI noted.

This exhibit highlights Bodalia’s work of photographing Gurdwaras across B.C., capturing many historical buildings and sites important to the history of Sikh settler heritage in Canada.

The Sikh Heritage Museum, National Historic Site Gur Sikh Temple, is located at 33089 South Fraser Way, Abbotsford.
