HIGH-RISK sex offender Hayden McCorriston, 30, has been arrested by Transit Police and charges of sexual assault have been approved by the BC Prosecution Service.
On April 18 just before 9 p.m., a 17-year-old girl disembarked a train at Gateway SkyTrain Station in Surrey, followed by McCorriston. As the victim walked along the platform, McCorriston allegedly groped the victim. He fled the station after she approached other passengers for help.
Metro Vancouver Transit Police officers launched an investigation that identified McCorriston as the suspect. He remains in custody.
“Everyone has the right to arrive at their transit destination safely, and without the fear of harassment or assault. Thanks to this young woman’s quick thinking, officers were able to conduct investigative steps that identified the suspect and make an arrest,” said Constable Amanda Steed.
