Two youths face charges after damage to Coquitlam’s Montgomery Middle School

TWO 13-year-old boys, both from Coquitlam, face potential criminal charges for damage that was done to Coquitlam’s Montgomery Middle School on September 17.

On Sunday, September 17 at about 8 p.m., Coquitlam RCMP were called to the school at 1900 Edgewood Avenue where they found extensive damage including smashed windows, damaged computer equipment, a broken vending machine, and missing fire extinguishers.

“With the help of witnesses, police interviews, RCMP Police Dog Services, and other investigative techniques, we were able to identify two suspects,” said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin. “The estimated damage to the school is over 10,000 dollars and that doesn’t factor in the inconvenience to everyone who uses the school. We want students and parents to know that we appreciate their passion and we took their concerns seriously.”

Since both suspects are youths they will not be named. Police will work with Crown Counsel to determine whether criminal charges or alternative measures are most appropriate.

  1. Get their parents to pay for ALL of the damages. Also, make sure those kids do LOTS of community work! That willteach them
