Charges upgraded to murder after Surrey stabbing victim succumbs to injuries

SURREY RCMP announced on Monday that the suspect in a stabbing that occurred in Whalley a month ago has now has been charged with second-degree murder.

On September 8 at 2:16 a.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a possible pedestrian struck in the area of 108 Avenue and King George Boulevard. When officers arrived on scene, they located a woman with stab wounds and determined she had not been struck by a vehicle as initially reported.

A female suspect was immediately arrested nearby and taken into police custody. She was charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.

On September 13, the victim died in hospital. The family of the victim has been notified and is being supported, police said.

Surrey RCMP General Investigations Unit continued their investigation and submitted additional disclosure to BC Prosecution Service.

On October 3, Jennifer Kipp, 36, was charged with second-degree murder and remains in custody awaiting a possible bail hearing in Supreme Court.
