City of Surrey breaks ground on new Keery Park loop trail in Campbell Heights

THE City of Surrey has begun construction of a new 500-metre nature trail in Keery Park providing the community with walking access to enjoy sections of forest and natural areas of the park.

With a late fall completion, the project is being funded in part by a  $25,000 contribution from the Keery family through the SurreyCares Community Foundation.

“I would like to thank the Keery family and SurreyCares Community Foundation for helping to fund this new trail that will provide our community with even more opportunities to get outdoors and enjoy the many benefits of being in nature,” said Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum.

Keery Park is located on the western edge of Campbell Heights and was named after John Keery who served on municipal council for 20 years between 1894 and 1928. In 2021 the Keery family established a fund through SurreyCares Community Foundation to contribute towards amenities at the park, including building a loop trail through the natural area of the park.

the City of Surrey manages over 800 parks. More than 200 parks have active amenities such as sports fields, sport courts, playgrounds, community gardens or picnic areas and over 600 parks protect natural areas, open space, and biodiversity as part of the larger green infrastructure network.
