THE City of Surrey has received the 2024 CPWA National Public Works Week award for communities with a population over 25,000. This recognition, bestowed by the Canadian Public Works Association (CPWA), highlights the city’s exceptional commitment to promoting the importance of public works and its dedication to community service.
The official announcement of the award took place during the CPWA Luncheon at PWX 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia, on Monday, September 9.
“We are honoured to receive this award, recognizing the City of Surrey’s unwavering commitment to public works and community service,” said Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke on Wednesday. “Providing essential services to our residents is a top priority for us, and our dedicated public works staff are the backbone of this effort. Their tireless work ensures that our infrastructure is safe, reliable, and efficient, and we’re grateful for their dedication to making Surrey a better place to live. This award is a testament to their hard work and a reflection of the City’s values of excellence, transparency, and community-focused service.”
The City says the award is a testament to the hard work and effort put forth by its public works team and its commitment to engage the community in National Public Works Week. Each year, this event provides an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of public works professionals and educate the public about the value and impact of these essential services.
The City says it looks forward to participating in National Public Works Week again next year, scheduled for May 18-24, and continues to thank its dedicated public works staff and engaged community for their support.
