THE man convicted in the random killing of an amateur photographer in Stanley Park has been sentenced to life in prison.
Tyler Lagimodiere, 33, appeared in court on Tuesday, after earlier pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the killing of Lubomir “Lubo” Kunik.
Kunik died on February 1, 2017, after being stabbed repeatedly while alone on the seawall in Stanley Park. Vancouver Police’s Homicide Unit led the investigation, which resulted in Lagimodiere’s arrest 11 months after the murder.
Evidence presented in court confirmed that Lagimodiere and Kunik had never met, and that Lagimodiere had gone to Stanley Park on the night of the murder with the intent to kill someone.
Lagimodiere is eligible for parole in 14 years.
