VANCOUVER Mayor Ken Sim announced on Monday that he has appointed Councillor Sarah Kirby-Yung as “Vancouver’s permanent Deputy Mayor for the remainder of the term.”
He said in a statement: “This appointment reflects our ongoing effort to play to the strengths of our team and ensure we’re best positioned to deliver for Vancouverites. Councillor Kirby-Yung is a great fit for this role. She has served on City Council since 2018 and has spent her career advocating for residents and improving the quality of life in our city. She’s a proven leader who is collaborative, action-oriented, and focused on results.
“From advancing housing and permitting reforms to championing initiatives that strengthen our economy and enhance our public spaces, Councillor Kirby-Yung has consistently worked to deliver for Vancouverites.
“I’m confident she’ll bring that same passion and commitment to her new role as Deputy Mayor as we continue building a safer, more affordable, and more connected city.”
