Cyclist seriously injured in Maple Ridge collision

ON Monday, May 25, 2026, at approximately 11 p.m., Maple Ridge RCMP responded to a report of a cyclist being struck by a vehicle in the 22100-block of Lougheed Highway.

Officers learned that a grey Mazda 3 was travelling eastbound on Lougheed Highway when it struck a cyclist in the area who was crossing southbound across Lougheed Highway. The cyclist was transported to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

A passerby also assisted the cyclist before the attendance of first responders. Road conditions at the time were noted to be dark and rainy. The investigation is ongoing as officers complete a number of tasks required in these types of serious injury collisions.

Maple Ridge RCMP remind residents to be extra vigilant on the roadways, especially at night and during periods of inclement weather. Pedestrians are reminded to dress appropriately and not assume drivers can always see them. Drivers are reminded to drive with due care and attention following speed limits and other rules of the road. Road safety is a shared responsibility for everyone.
