MP Deepak Obhrai was on Thursday declared the Conservative Party’s candidate for the next federal election in the newly formed riding of Calgary Forest Lawn. There was no challenge.
“I extend my sincere thank you to the residents of the new riding of Calgary Forest Lawn, for their support. I am grateful for the trust they have placed in me as their sole candidate in the next federal election.
The support and encouragement was overwhelming since December 2013, when the new Calgary Forest Lawn Electoral District Association was formed and subsequently the nomination opened. I am humbled by this vote of confidence,” Obhrai said.
Obhrai, first elected MP in 1997 and re-elected in 2000, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2011.
Obhrai serves as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and for International Human Rights.
